Overview
DRS. International School, Hyderabad, is a co-educational, day cum residential school. It is also known as DRSIS. It follows the syllabus prescribed by the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, integrated with the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program from kindergarten to class 5th.
The uniqueness of the school primarily lies in this blended approach of offering Indian content using international methodologies. The establishment adheres to the international standard of a 12:1 student-teacher ratio to optimize learning.
Founded by Dayanand Agarwal, managing and chairman director, DRS. Group of Companies, the institution's mission is to provide the most refined quality learning that will develop in step with the changes that takes place globally in the fields of commerce, education, science and arts and to set new qualitative standards in learning by employing innovative approaches.
Campus
The 5-acre school campus hosts temperature-controlled classrooms, well-equipped labs, a well-stocked library, a toy room, a theatre, and e-classrooms created and designed for students and facilitators to attain technological skills.
Medical facilities include a well-equipped infirmary that provides first aid to students under a full-time nurse's supervision. Students' essential physical development is tracked and reported by the school nurse every term in collaboration with a qualified doctor. The infirmary offers beds and shower facilities.
A full-sized swimming pool, basketball, a skating rink, volleyball courts, tennis courts, a gymnasium, an indoor games room, a photography studio, a pottery studio, and a carpentry and metal workshop form part the school's facility offerings.
Children have access to cricket facilities, archery, fencing, roller hockey, roller-skating, yoga, and karate. State-level coaches guide the children to ensure they gain optimal benefit from their exposure to these activities.
Academics
The institution follows the CBSE syllabus integrated with the IB Primary Years Program from kindergarten to class 5th. It adheres to the international standard of a 12:1 student-teacher ratio to optimize learning. Students are encouraged to assess their work and reflect on their learning process regularly. Teachers support the children in assessing their work by providing assessment criteria. The students go-through the pre-assessment, formative assessment and summative assessment in PYP.
For its e-classrooms, DRS. International School has partnered with Edurite to provide resources designed to enhance the students' research skills.
Extracurricular:
They believe extracurricular activities to be an intrinsic component of holistic education, DRS. International School promotes many activities such as photography, pottery, carpentry, and sports activities, including skating, swimming, squash, basketball, cricket, football, tennis, table tennis, carom, chess and archery. Regular field trips are designed for the primary classes as part of the PYP program. The institution also encourages students to engage themselves in community service.
