Overview
National Public School, Yelahanka, Bengaluru, was established in 2013 under the guidance of the Chairman - Dr K P Gopalkrishna.
This school is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education.
Early Years Programme
Montessori Programme
- Each child is unique, and we need to recognise and hone the considerable skills of the children into individual strengths.
- Individual and social development is encouraged in each child uniquely where mixed age groups are in the same environment. Hence, children of ages 3 to 6 years come together to form spontaneous and harmonious interaction.
- Montessori Programme is offered at an early childhood level : 3 - 6 years.
- It is a three-year programme.
Kindergarten
- These are the "foundation years" during which early linguistic, arithmetic basics, expression, physical fitness, constructive socialisation, good habits like sharing, helping are built, and multiple intelligences.
- Learning through the play-way method is encouraged.
- Kindergarten Programme is offered at an early childhood level: 4-6 years.
- This is a two-year programme.
Primary and Middle
Primary Year Programme
- The curriculum is activity-based learning with hands-on experience and extensive co-curricular activities.
- NPS is committed to imparting a strong foundation to students of classes 1st to 5th in various disciplines such as English, Social Science, Mathematics, Life Science, Environment Science, Language Studies and Information Technology.
- A comprehensive and continuous assessment pattern has replaced the traditional examinations in the Primary Year Programme.
- A wide range of teaching techniques is used - such as group discussions, seminars, projects, guest talks, and several unique resources developed on the 'do and learn' technique.
- Yoga, music, craft, cooking, and other such activities are woven into the curriculum framework to expose the students to various pursuits other than mere academics.
- Students start using Maths Lab from classes 1st, which will help them sharpen their analytical skills and Junior Science Lab for hands-on learning.
- Establishing good work habits like persistence, independence, time management, and appreciation of learning values begin at this stage.
- Class 5th is introduced with an additional language.
Middle Year Programme
- Children enter the "Middle School" in Grade 6.
- In Grade 6-8, the programme is designed as per the CBSE curriculum with an interactive, hands-on session.
- Students are taught to handle the semester portions gradually to get trained to appear for the board examination in the senior classes.
- In Middle School, students are ready to tackle deeper and more sensitive subjects with specialist teachers, including the challenge of an additional language.
- The programme helps the children to prepare in-depth for Grades 9 and 10.
- There are many enrichment activities in the Middle Year Programme, including outbound trips.
Senior School Curriculum
The subjects included in these classes are English, Sanskrit, Hindi, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, and Environmental Education. The physical training classes build up stamina and are thoroughly enjoyed by the students. The students also excel in SUPW and General Studies assessments.
Science, Maths and Computer Science curriculum equips the students to face the entrance tests confidently.
Senior Secondary
They offer two combinations in the Science stream, PCMB [Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology] and PCMC [Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science].
Co-curricular
At NPS, academic excellence and co-curricular activities go hand in hand.
Through various co-curricular pursuits, such as dance, music, painting, quiz, debates, yoga, aerobics, art and craft - children develop the skill of teamwork, leadership, communication, organisation of intra-school and inter-school competitions.
